Welcome to the Professional Development School Network at UNC Charlotte.
PDSs are collaborative institutions formed through partnerships between college/university professional education programs and P-12 schools. PDS work at UNC Charlotte has been framed by the Nine Essentials published by the National Association for Professional Development Schools. PDS work here also aligns to Standard 2 from the 2013 Standards from the Council for Accredidation for Educator Preparation (CAEP).
Currently, our Professional Development Schools work is focused on the following projects, which includes Niner Clinical Immersion Schools (NCIS), the Elementary Education program's Integrated Methods Block, and the coaching model for supporting student teachers. More information can be found here. Up until the 2015-2016 year, UNC Charlotte faculty partnered with local schools on partner-driven initiatives. With the adoption of the CAEP Standards College leadership is remodeling what PDS looks like.
